 | Our
current political system is in severe disarray. We have two highly
funded parties in ideological gridlock with one another, voting more
often than not for the purpose of undermining the other party,
regardless of whether or not the opposing party's ideas can benefit the
people.
In a time when our economy is dangerously close to
collapse, when over half of our friends and neighbors live precariously
from paycheck to paycheck, hoping that their jobs hold out, and when we
are recklessly declaring war on over three fronts, the last thing that
we need is a battle between two vehemently polarized parties. Our
existing pool of ideas--held for far too long as rigid dogmas by both
the Democrats and the Republicans--simply have not worked, and have at
times hindered rather than helped our economic progress and our
well-being. What we need is a government of candidates that are
dedicated not to their parties or their financiers, but to the women,
men, and children of this great nation. We need independent voices
speaking fresh ideas; we need lawmakers that rule by reason rather than
stale rhetoric. |

In a time when our economy is dangerously close to collapse, when over half of our friends and neighbors live precariously from paycheck to paycheck, hoping that their jobs hold out, and when we are recklessly declaring war on over three fronts, the last thing that we need is a battle between two vehemently polarized parties. Our existing pool of ideas--held for far too long as rigid dogmas by both the Democrats and the Republicans--simply have not worked, and have at times hindered rather than helped our economic progress and our well-being. What we need is a government of candidates that are dedicated not to their parties or their financiers, but to the women, men, and children of this great nation. We need independent voices speaking fresh ideas; we need lawmakers that rule by reason rather than stale rhetoric.
It is for this reason that I have decided to run for district 42 of the Arkansas House of Representatives. It is my conviction, and I hope yours, that an independent candidate can work with both parties to break through gridlock over issues that matter to the well-being of the citizens of our great state.
I do not expect you to vote for me--or anyone else--blindly. Instead, I have created this website to give you a better idea of where I stand on issues that are important to each and every one of us. I encourage you to read these articles carefully, as well as those of my fellow candidates, and decide for yourself which ones have your best interests at heart and the conviction to stand for those interests, and then to vote for your chosen candidate with absolute conviction.
One thing you may notice is that I don't give stock answers. I give my views as well as the reasoning behind them. This may seem cumbersome, but I am a firm believer in transparency in government. The public has a right to know not only what their representatives vote for, but also has a right to know
why their representatives made this choice.
So please, enjoy the site. If you have any questions, helpful comments, or would like to discuss issues further with me, it would be my pleasure. I can be reached via e-mail at jason@jbblack.com.
